Brief Bio

I'm Christian Yongwhan Lim - an engineer, educator, and long-time ICPC/IOI competitor and coach. I currently serve as Director of Internships at the ICPC Foundation, Chair of the CLI Symposium, Senior Editor for The Journal of Competitive Learning, and Chief Judge for ICPC North America Mid-Central. I also co-chair the ICPC Curriculum Committee, co-organize the ICPC North America Programming Camp - Online, and serve as Site Director for the Greater New York Regional. Outside ICPC, I coach at Columbia University and train Team Pakistan for IOI. At Columbia, I am an Adjunct in the Department of Computer Science, and at Stanford, I co-chair my class reunion campaign and serve on the board of the Asian Pacific American Alumni Club.

My work bridges systems, algorithms, and learning communities. I've built infrastructure and tools that empower ambitious students and professionals to solve challenging problems. Previously, I was a Research Software Engineer at Google Research and a Senior Quantitative Software Engineer at Two Sigma, focusing on creating tools that remove friction for high-performance teams. Recently, I have been building modular AI agent frameworks and simulation tools to advance AI-native systems and scalable learning environments.

I hold a BS in Mathematics and Computer Science and an MS in Computer Science from Stanford University, where I was advised by Fei-Fei Li (CS) and Persi Diaconis (Math), and I entered MIT's PhD program in Operations Research under Asuman Ozdaglar. I have received several awards recognizing mentorship, leadership, and problem advisory excellence, including the Outstanding Problem Advisory and Outstanding Mentorship awards from the ICPC Challenge, as well as a Silver Medal as Team Coach at the 2024 ICPC North America Championship.

I'm passionate about connecting with people building AI-native systems, educational infrastructure, and communities that scale talent globally.
