How I practice
I keep a record of the decision that failed
After a problem, I write down the first point where progress stopped: the representation I missed, the claim I did not prove, the implementation risk I ignored, or the test I should have written sooner.
I return to the idea on a different problem after the original solution is no longer fresh. If I need the same hint again, the first solve did not change my process.
